Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program

Through the Nova Scotia PNP, prospective immigrants who have the skills and experience targeted by the province may be nominated for immigration. Candidates, who receive a Nova Scotia Nomination certificate, may have their application fast-tracked, speeding up the immigration process.

The Nova Scotia PNP receives immigration applications under the following:

• Physician Stream: This stream assists the public health authorities in Nova Scotia to hire physicians to work in Nova Scotia. The stream is open to General Practitioners and Family Physicians and Specialist Physicians who have a signed job offer from one of the public health authorities. You require a signed job offer from the Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) or the Izaak Walton Killam(IWK) Health Centre and must be eligible for licensing through the NS College of Physicians and Surgeons.

• Skilled Worker Stream: This stream enables qualified workers and recent graduates with a permanent job offer from an employer in Nova Scotia to be nominated, where local Canadians did not have the required skills to deal with these jobs

• Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities Stream: To be selected for this stream, the candidate must first enter into the federal Express Entry pool. The province may nominate the applicant who meets the labour market needs of Nova Scotia at a particular time. The candidate can only apply if you receive a Letter of Interest form the Nova Scotian Office of Immigration.

• Nova Scotia Demand -Express Entry Stream: Express Entry stream is for individuals with a valid Express Entry profile and either a job offer in Nova Scotia or previous work experience in an occupation that Nova Scotia is targeting.

• Nova Scotia Experience -Express Entry Stream: This stream chooses applicants who have at least one year of work experience in a skilled occupation in the province. This stream lets you become a permanent resident of Nova Scotia. Please note that this stream is a pilot program and may be changed by the government of Nova Scotia.

• Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program: This program was created in 2017 to help Nova Scotia manage its labour shortages. Companies from the province have collaborated to become part of the program to help bring in foreign talent. The AIPP allows successful candidates who are endorsed by the province to apply for permanent residency directly to the IRCC. There is also an option for foreign workers to get a temporary work permit while their application is processed.

• Entrepreneur:The Entrepreneur Stream is for experienced business owners or senior business managers who want to live in Nova Scotia. They must start a new business or buy an existing business and must actively participate in the day-to-day management of the business. After operating the business for a year, the entrepreneur may be nominated for permanent resident status. Application to the stream is by invitation only.

• International Graduate Entrepreneur:The International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream is for recent graduates of a Nova Scotia university or the Nova Scotia Community College. They must have already started or bought a Nova Scotia business and operated it for at least a year. If they intend to settle in Nova Scotia, the graduate may be nominated for permanent resident status. Application to the stream is by invitation only.
